Heart attack is one of the most serious problems that in some cases may lead to death. A heart attack occurs when the supply of blood and oxygen to an area of heart muscle is blocked. In most of the cases the oxygen is blocked by a clot in the coronary artery. This blockage usually leads to arrhythmias which is the irregular heartbeat and is the cause of severe decrease in the pumping function of the heart. It is also good to know that if the affected heart muscle is not treated in a few hours the heart muscle will die and it will be replaced by a scar tissue.
The heart attack might be included in the life threatening problems. That is why it is good to be informed about the warning signs and how to get emergency help. The most common death cause in heart attack patients is the late help they are given.
Statistics say that in U.S. more than a million persons suffer a heart attack and more than half of them die. A quarter of the patients die within 1 hour after the start of the symptoms.
There are specialized emergency personnel than may intervene to stop arrhythmias with emergency CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), defibrillation or other prompt advanced cardiac life support procedures. If they intervene soon enough the blood flow in the blocked artery can be restored and might be prevented the permanent damage to the heart. Even if most of the people know that a quick intervention may have positive results they do not seek for medical care within two hours after the first symptom. Many of the patients go to see a doctor the second day.
In most of the cases the heart attack is caused by a blood clot that blocks one of the coronary arteries. In this case the part of the heart which is not oxygenated might die. Medical problems such as coronary artery disease, also known as CAD, are one of the most common causes for heart attack. This condition is described as the hardening and narrowing of the coronary arteries by the buildup of plague in the inside walls. In time, plague build up in the coronary arteries might lead to narrow arteries so that less blood flows to the heart muscle, a block of the arteries and the flow of blood, the forming of blood clots.
Other similar causes might lead to heart attacks. Among them we should remember the tightening of the coronary artery that reduces or even stops the blood flow to the heart, drug intake, emotional stress, exposure to cold or even smoking or drinking.

Heart Attack? Answers please?
Im just wondering a few things about a Heart Attack.
During a heart attack, Does the blood pressure go up or does it lower?
What about the Heart rate?
When Having a heart attack, How long does it usually last. Can it just pass without taking anything?
The reason Iam asking. My Husband normally has very high blood pressure, Last night when he got out of the shower, he had very bad chest pains. They stopped him in his tracks and he fell against the wall clenching his chest. He said if his blood pressure was High he would go to the ER. When I took his blood pressure it was just 92/48 which is very low for him since its usually 140+/90-110. He was pale and sweating, very nauseated and said it felt like a hand was squeezing his heart, But within 10 minutes it had passed and he just decided to go to bed. He didnt take anything for it. He said he is feeling better this morning and refuses to go to the Dr. So Im going to try to get answers on here. He is 28 years old, EKG a few months ago just showed very fast heart rate and slight enlargement of the heart but the Echo didnt show it. Please help me out. Im so worried
Yes, Hes been on medicine for his high BP since the age of 12. Im pretty sure he is on Lopressor and he takes it 2 times a day
if you eat to much the food could slow your blood if your blood is too slow you will get a heart attack or when you are old when something scared you so much your heart beating so fast you will die!

during a heart attack, the blood pressure(BP) goes down down down until it eventually disappears. then there is cardiac arrest. your husband should be on anti-hypertensive drugs. is he taking them? does he feel like there are bricks weighing down on his heart?
if he feels like there is weight on his heart he should seriously go to the ER. i really really insist that you should see a doctor or even better go to your hospital.(hospitals have more equipment needed for emergencies, in case there is one.)
i hope my info helped (:

Your husband did not have to have a heart attack for there to be serious heart problems (congestive heart failure due to an enlarged heart caused by hypertension has all of his symptoms). He should absolutely go to the doctor ASAP, and if it ever happens again, he should go to a hospital. His blood pressure was extremely low, to the point where it demonstrates that his heart is not pumping correctly. Don't let him be an idiot and take him to the doctor.
