How dangerous is it to have blood clots on your lungs ?

my mom just had knee surgery and now has blood clots on her lungs they are small . How dangerous is this and is it treatable . I am scarred to death please help !

its dangerous because. it can break of and travel to the heart because oxygen is transported to the heart. The blood clot can travel to the heart if it breaks off. It also can cause respitory arrest so then you won't have any oxygen depending on the part of the lung.

The chances of being okay, are like 50/50
They give you cpk its a clot buster and it can delete the clots..
if shes getting rest and taking care of herself i think she will be fine… She though needs to be hospitlized.

im a nurse im not playing im not trying to freak you out,, but its a pretty serious thing.

What will probably happen is the docs will put her on blood thinners to get rid of it. It can be fatal if not caught early, but it sounds like she did. Having knee surgery or any major body inflictions will cause the body to go to all measures to keep it up and running even if it can kill its self. ( I really think the body is amazing) But its fine, she will be fine. I see this happen all the time (I work in the health care Field). Dont be scared- think of it like this-> when you get your monthly PMS, its clots coming out of your body, only this got caught in her body. The body will desolve it but to make sure it does, blood thinners will aid in the digestion of it.
