Is there any kind of prescription contraceptive that does not increase risk of blood clots?

I was put on the pill for my cramps, but I recently developed a blood clot, and now that we know I’m prone to getting them, I can’t ever be on the pill again. I need to know if there’s any kind of prescription birth control that works in a different way, and doesn’t have the risk of blood clots associated with it.

Unfortunately anything that messes with your hormones like the pill can cause blood clots and DVT. Your best bet is to steer away from hormonal contraception and try out some alternative medicines instead. Things like acupuncture and shiatsu massage can really help, and there are things you can incorporate into your diet like African Ginger and Evening Primrose Oil that do a lot too. Maybe visit a doctor of Chinese or Alternative medicine? It sounds all like New-Age and stuff but if your body is at risk from the pill it might be your best alternative.

None that will also help with cramps. Sorry. You may want to talk to your dr about some other options to control cramping.
