I would start off with support style pantyhose Sears and JCpennys make some good ones and in different support toning there quite a bit cheaper than compression hose which can run from $20 to over $100 a pair, standing on a cold floor will tend to pull the heat from your legs and eventually can lead to varicose veins from doing a lot of standing.
References :
Standing up all day -- compression stockings, Dr. Scholls, and general health tips help?
I'm young, and I work 3 days a week of graveyard shift, just standing up and sorting mail for 6-8 hours a day in a somewhat cool room. I already have some swelling problems in my feet occasionally even before this job.

I have no doctor to ask, but I'm trying to get tips on how to make my feet and legs and knees healthy. I've heard compression stockings help -- but some people say I only need support hose. What's the difference? I plan on investing in that and Dr. Scholls and elevating my feet as well.

Any tips and help and answers would be appreciated!
